School bus crashes through barrier and rolls down a ravine in Adeje

UPDATE: 14.03.2024  @10:30pm:
It is believed that the bus was parked outside the school in Tijoco waiting to collect children as they left to go home, when the handbrake failed and rolled down the hill, crashed through the barrier, and plunged into the barranco below.

Original article:

Reports are coming in that a school bus has crashed through a barrier and plunged 50 feet down a barranco in Tijoco in the municipality of Adeje in the south of Tenerife at around 2:20pm this afternoon (Thursday), landing on rocks on its roof.

At the moment it is believed that the Transalex minibus was empty and didn’t have any school children on board. Eyewitnesses say that the driver managed to get out before it went over the edge but it is still unconfirmed as to whether anyone was injured in the incident or not.

The fire brigade were first to arrive at the scene and have made it down to where the bus came to a standstill, and are currently securing the vehicle and double checking that no-one was onboard.
