Arson attack in Los Cristianos during Carnival celebrations

A fire erupted during the Carnival celebrations in Los Cristianos in the south of Tenerife on Saturday night, leaving a trail of destruction as several motorcycles were intentionally set ablaze. Initial investigations by the Local Police strongly indicate arson as the cause behind the incident.

The fire happened at the intersection of Calle Barranquillo and Avenida Suecia around 3:00 in the morning, completely burning out three motorcycles and causing extensive damage to three others, as well as a Renault Clio and the facade of a nearby building.

Despite the prompt actions of Arona Local Police officers in attempting to contain the blaze, the ferocity of the fire made it require the intervention of additional emergency services who swiftly dispatched a team of firefighters to the scene.

Due to how quickly it was spreading, municipal tow trucks had to urgently remove other vehicles in the vicinity to prevent them from catching fire too, and in a coordinated effort, the Local and National Police secured the area, diverting traffic to alternative routes to enable firefighters from Adeje to successfully extinguish the blaze in a matter of minutes.

As authorities investigate the cause of the fire, initial findings from the police indicate strong suspicion of malicious intent behind the arson. The investigation remains ongoing as they seek to identify and apprehend those responsible for the reprehensible act.
