Armed teenager caught red-handed by off-duty officers in South Tenerife
An 18-year-old man has been arrested in San Isidro, Tenerife, after being caught in the act of carrying out a violent robbery in broad daylight. Two off-duty Guardia Civil officers intervened and detained the suspect after seeing him threaten a woman with a knife.
The incident happened in the town of San Isidro, in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, when the officers noticed a hooded man acting suspiciously. He appeared to be hiding what looked like a bladed weapon in his trousers.
Keeping him under discreet observation, the officers saw the suspect approach a woman walking along the street and attempt to rob her by threatening her with the knife. They immediately stepped in, restrained him despite his resistance, and arrested him on the street.
The weapon was seized, but the victim fled in fear and has not yet been found. Authorities are continuing efforts to identify and support her.
The suspect has been brought before the court in Granadilla de Abona.
