7 people injured as rent a car crashes into a packed bar terrace in Corralejo
Seven people have been injured today (Thursday), including a 4-month-old baby, when a rental car left a road in the busy tourist town of Corralejo in Fuerteventura, plowed through a crowded terrace and came to a standstill after crashing into a shop.
As reported by the Deputy Inspector of the Local Police, Jorge Fleitas, there are two people currently undergoing surgery in the operating room at the Fuerteventura General Hospital, and two others have been transferred to Las Palmas (Gran Canaria), including the small child.
At the moment the police are working on two hypotheses as to why the car veered off the road, one is that the driver, who is a tourist, of the rental car got confused by the car’s gears and lost control, and the second is that he had a heart attack and lost consciousness, for which they are waiting for confirmation from medics as he is one of the injured in hospital.
