28-year-old in critical condition after stabbing in South Tenerife
A 28-year-old man is in critical condition after being stabbed in the chest last night (Tuesday) in the south of Tenerife. The attack happened at around 10:30 pm on Calle Tenerife. A call to 1-1-2 reported that a man had been seriously injured in an assault with a bladed weapon.
Paramedics stabilised the victim before transferring him by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz, where he remains with serious injuries.
An investigation into the attack is now underway.
In recent years, there have been several high-profile assaults in busy tourist areas such as Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas, and Costa Adeje. Earlier this summer, police were called to a stabbing outside a nightclub in Playa de las Américas, while last year a man was hospitalised after a knife fight near the seafront in Costa Adeje.
Local police forces continue to work closely with the Guardia Civil to maintain safety in nightlife zones and busy town centres, carrying out extra patrols at weekends and during peak holiday periods.
