Estrellas Theatre School is proudly marking 20 years of nurturing young talent in Tenerife, helping children and teenagers shine both on stage and beyond. Since opening in 2005, Estrellas has provided a creative home for thousands of pupils, building confidence, creativity, and professional-level performance skills in a supportive and family-like environment.

Students have not only dazzled audiences in spectacular shows and showcases, but many have also gone on to achieve places at their first-choice performing arts schools in the UK. Estrellas continues to maintain a 100% pass rate in its exams with the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA).

The school has also played an active role in the island’s wider creative scene, supporting events such as the Tenerife Entertainment Awards and providing a platform for young performers to be celebrated.

A personal milestone for Director Mo Sands

For Director Mo Sands, who has led Estrellas since 2009, the 20th anniversary is particularly special. Not only has she seen generations of students succeed, but her own sons — Jamie, currently studying at RADA, and Alex, at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama — are proof of the school’s ethos of dedication and passion.

“It’s been the privilege of my life to lead Estrellas since 2009,” says Mo. “I’m incredibly proud of the amazing team of staff who make Estrellas what it is, their talent, hard work, and passion inspire me every day.”

Mo gave special recognition to Tracey Cutting, who has been her “right hand through thick and thin” at the Saturday school at Internacional Colegio Costa Adeje, and to Vicky Farrington, who leads the school’s work at the International British School “with energy, creativity, and vision”.

“Both Tracey and Vicky embody everything Estrellas stands for, but truly, every single member of our team brings something unique and vital to our success. I’m so lucky to work with such an exceptional group of people,” Mo added.

Growing across Tenerife

Today, Estrellas runs classes across the island, including:

  • Full-day Saturday sessions at Internacional Colegio Costa Adeje
  • Classes at the International British School
  • Sessions at Colegio Luther King San Miguel

This expansion has given even more children the opportunity to discover their talents and grow in confidence.

In addition, Estrellas runs a popular Summer Camp at Centro Hípica del Norte, which returns this year from 25th–29th August. The camp combines horse riding, team-building, and outdoor adventures, encouraging children to step away from screens, make friends, and build confidence in a fun and natural setting.

Looking ahead

As part of its 20th anniversary celebrations, Estrellas will host special events later this year to mark the milestone.

“We’ve always been about more than just classes,” Mo said. “We’re about building a family — among the students, their parents, and our wonderful team of staff. I can’t wait to see what the next 20 years bring for us all.”
