18-year-old in critical condition after being stabbed in Veronicas, Tenerife
A serious incident occurred in the early hours of this morning (Monday 16th February) in the Veronicas nightlife area of south Tenerife. At 2:15am, the emergency services received an urgent call reporting that a young man had been stabbed on Avenida Rafael Puig Lluvina, the main Veronicas strip in Playa de las Américas.
Ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene, which was crowded with late-night revellers at the time. Paramedics located the victim, an 18-year-old male, who had sustained a severe stab wound. According to initial assessments, his condition was described as serious.
SUC medical personnel stabilised him at the scene before transferring him to the Hospiten Sur hospital by ambulance, where he remains under specialist care.
Police investigation underway
Although full details of the incident have not yet been released, police are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack, including whether it stemmed from a confrontation, a targeted assault, or a random act of violence. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby bars and clubs and interviewing witnesses present at the time.
Popular tourist area
Las Veronicas is one of the most frequented areas in the south of Tenerife, lined with bars and clubs. Incidents of this nature are relatively uncommon but can generate significant concern among both visitors and residents due to the area’s high footfall, especially on weekend nights.
Local authorities are expected to increase police visibility in the coming days to reassure the public and support the ongoing investigation.
