The telecoms tower saboteur strikes again in the south of Tenerife

The telecommunications tower saboteur has struck again, and this time his victims are the residents of the Arguayo area of Santiago del Teide and the surrounding area, who since early yesterday morning have experienced limited access to mobile phone networks, Wi-Fi, radio stations and other telecommunications due to a vandal who is still at large in the south of Tenerife.

The initial data collected by technicians from the affected companies and the Guardia Civil, who were called to the scene yesterday, indicate that it is the same perpetrator or perpetrators who previously caused two fires on Mount Guaza.

In these incidents, there was considerable damage to the transmission towers and centres located in a place difficult to access even for firefighters, who had to climb the mountain with extinguishers in hand to put out the fires, which took place on March 13th and almost a month later, on April 14th, in the same location.

This time, probably due to the investigation by the Guardia Civil, they changed the location of the target and cut all kinds of cables at the site in Santiago del Teide, and destroyed the electrical metres connected to the supply of the telecom’s companies based there.

Fortunately, this time the plans of the saboteur or saboteurs (although the main suspicion is that it is one person) failed, as their delayed fuses, to start fires to cause damage similar to that in Guaza, failed miserably.

Regardless, the consequences of the actions of this saboteur are notable. Pending a further assessment of yesterday's incident, the damages caused by the two intentional fires in Mount Guaza were considerable, to the extent that companies as large as Vodafone struggled to restore their services to thousands and thousands of affected people in a densely populated area like Las Chafiras and Los Cristianos.
