La Gomera Burned - 02.05.2008
There is now talk of an affected area of 500 hectares, and not 800 as first suspected, among which there were farms and livestock, housing and infrastructure. The evacuees returned to their homes later in the week and now the Cabildo will make an overall assessment of losses in Hermigua, Agulo and Vallehermoso.

New Tourist Strategy - 25.04.2008
The tourism sector, the origin of most of the island’s gross domestic product, is facing a new reality. Last week the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife (Tenerife Island Council) presented a new Estrategia Turística (Tourism Strategy) to be applied over the next eight years. Its formulas include regenerating tourist areas, opening new markets and using new technologies.
