A coach full of tourists caught fire earlier today (Thursday), while it was driving on the GC-1 motorway close to Salobre, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Gran Canaria.
There were 53 passengers on the bus at the time, but fortunately, all of them were safely evacuated and no one was injured.
The emergency services dispatched firefighters from Puerto Rico and San Bartolomé de Tirajana to the scene of the fire, and the Guardia Civil who closed the motorway for 40 minutes whilst the fire was put out, causing heavy traffic jams in both directions.
After the incident, firefighters continued to water the bus to prevent the fire from reigniting, and highway services started to clear the road.
