The Puerto de la Cruz Council have reopened the largest pool to the public at the Costa Martiánez Complex in Tenerife’s original tourist town, ten months after it was closed for the most extensive remodelling in its 46-year history.

It has undergone a complete renovation of its machinery room, which also includes a substantial improvement in terms of sustainability and efficiency for the filling and emptying of the Lake, the main pool at the complex.

The mayor, Marco González, along with the councillor of Tourism, Roberto Medina, and the complex staff, switched on the new machinery room which represents “the largest municipal investment in history, estimated at around 1.3 million euros, which preserves and efficiently energises the oldest installation in the city, designed by César Manrique, the most unique artist from Lanzarote."

The water volcano once again offers an iconic image of tourism in the north of the Island within a complex that also houses a Cultural Interest Site (BIC) as a Historic Garden to complete a unique experience, valued by the millions of tourists and residents who have visited it since 1977.

The mayor highlighted the efforts of the Complex's staff, who have always kept part of its facilities open. "With notable attendance figures, we have ensured that revenue has not been affected, reinvesting those earnings to continue maintaining the Complex without diminishing the services provided inside."
