The National Police have arrested nine people in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, for their alleged involvement in separate offences against industrial property and copyright, seizing over 1,100 counterfeit items from well-known brands.
The operation was initiated after complaints filed with the National Police by representatives of the affected brands and involved the participation of various advisors and brand experts from the affected companies.
In total, they recognised and confiscated 1,138 counterfeit watches, wallets, handbags, clothing items, and football tops from shops in the main Costa Adeje area.
In a statement, the National Police emphasised that these crimes compromise the quality guarantee of branded products for consumers, and give an unfair economic advantage over other traders that sell original items.
