Man in critical condition after suffering a heart attack in Los Cristianos port

An 83-year-old man has been hospitalised in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest yesterday (Wednesday) on a pier in the port of Los Cristianos, in the south of Tenerife, as reported by the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).

The emergency services were dispatched to the scene after 112 received an alert requesting urgent medical assistance for the man who had collapsed in the port. A SUC doctor in the 112 call centre, after conducting the necessary inquiry with the caller, confirmed that the man was in cardiac arrest and gave instructions over the phone so that people at the scene could administer CPR.

Additionally, officers from the port police helped to assist the affected person at the dock using a semi-automatic defibrillator.

When they arrived, paramedics confirmed that the man was still in cardiac arrest and took over with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation manoeuvres, successfully restoring his pulse.

Once stabilised, he was transported in critical condition by ambulance to a hospital in the south of Tenerife. The prompt response of emergency services and the coordinated effort of all involved played a crucial role in saving the man’s life.
