Holiday bookings reach 83% in Tenerife for Christmas

Ashotel have reported that hotel and aparthotel resorts in the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, linked with their association, have reached a level of 83% bookings for the upcoming holiday season, from December 18th to January 7th, according to an internal survey they have conducted through its Observatory of Tourism Competitiveness and Sustainability department. These figures represent confirmed bookings rather than anticipated occupancy.

Breaking down the data by islands, La Palma (83.3%) and Tenerife (83.2%) surpass the provincial average. La Gomera also reports a strong reservation level (76.3%), while El Hierro continues the trend of recent surveys with lower figures (43.1%).

El Hierro is an island where last-minute bookings from the local and Spanish markets play a significant role, boosting the overall percentage. The study was conducted from December 1st to December 13th among the 251 accommodation establishments associated with Ashotel across the four islands, representing approximately 97,000 beds, which is 71% of the total available in the province.

In comparison to last year's data, the survey conducted by Ashotel for the Christmas season of 2022-23 indicated reservations in Tenerife and La Palma at 78%, five points lower than this year for both islands. La Gomera had a 74% reservation rate, while El Hierro had a mere 24%.

In terms of areas of Tenerife, the south of the island boasts the highest reservation rate as of today, reaching 84.9%, while the northern part is at 79.6% of its capacity during the Christmas season, and reservations in the metropolitan area are currently at 59.6%.

Examining the 3-week festive period analysed by Ashotel's Observatory, the one with the best data, as is customary, is Christmas week between December 25th and December 31st, with an average reservation rate of 88%. The preceding week concludes with an average of nearly 79%, and the final week, until January 7th, is close to 82%.
