Keep young ones in their car seats

“I know how much you love me, but please, when we use the car, can you put me in my special chair and not in your arms on your knee?”

THIS is an extract from a special message, posted on Twitter by Santa Cruz Local Police, to try to get the message across to the public to stop habits, which many people still have.

They still travel with babies on their laps, not aware, or respecting the laws that have been made from the DGT (Spain’s traffic department), regarding a child’s safety in a vehicle.

The police posted their Twitter message, specifically, after stopping a driver on Tuesday morning just after nine o’clock.

They spotted a woman, sitting on the back seat of the car with a small child in her arms. Curiously, there was also a baby-chair in the car, but it was unused.

The mother was charged and fined by the Local Police, which was an incentive for them to make a video and post it on twitter.

The police stressed that the last thing they wanted to do was enforce a punishment, when it was a mother’s instinct to protect her child.

But they obviously want the public to be aware that, by having a child on your lap on the back seat of the car, you are not protecting the child but doing the complete opposite.

Local Police are hopeful that the message will get across to many people, who still don’t realise the importance of

child-safety in vehicles.
