Unscripted move by this terrified driver

IT could have been a scene from an adventure film… a car was hanging off the edge of a ravine, ready to fall from a considerable height at any moment.

In fact, the vehicle is actually a specialised car, adapted for people with disabilities, and the controls are on the steering wheel, specifically, for easy use.

But the incident took onlookers by surprise on Tuesday afternoon in the Santa Cruz area of Icod de los Vinos, after the driver had climbed into his parked car, and prepared to set off, as usual.

But for reasons unclear, the vehicle began to reverse, going straight across the street before it was left, swaying, at the top of a ravine!

The incident caused a slight panic in the area, but the emergency services were notified immediately, and a fire-fighter team were dispatched to the area, ready to assist.

The stunned driver was still inside the car when they arrived, and a fireman climbed on to the bonnet to act as a counter-weight, preventing it falling from a height.

And, fortunately, a tow truck, assisted by fire-fighters, pulled the swaying car out of danger, to the relief of its owner.
