Swallows’s cancer funds are soaring

But what a legacy their members have left, in the form of two huge donations to their favourite charities.

In all, the club’s various sections raised 9,154 euros, with 4,000 euros presented to the Cancer Research Foundation at Candelaria, and 5,000 euros to Carol Salisbury’s Cancer Bus charity, which caters for cancer suffers here in the south, who are unable to get to Candelaria under their own steam.

The money left over will start next Winter’s charity fund. Carole Hart, modestly, played down the part she and Linda Powell performed in raising a magnificent 1,160 euros for the main fund with a sponsored, tandem-paragliding flight, from a great height.

They should have landed on the beach at La Caleta, but their respective pilots were unable to oblige, so they both missed the reception they would have received by their fellow Swallows.
