Superleague in their sights
ALL the excitement and skill of beach volleyball can also be enjoyed with the indoor variety. And Arona Tenerife Sur are poised to storm the ladies’ national Superleague.
There are just six games for them to negotiate and tomorrow (Saturday), they travel to Mallorca to take on CIDE in the first clash.
They begin their home campaign the following Saturday (25th March) when CV Madrid Chamberi visit Los Cristianos for a 7pm match.
Coach Gabriel Navarro is confident they can end their winning season with a move up to the big stage after seeing off the other hopefuls.
The sports hall, by the outdoor swimming complex, has seen the men’s team play at top national level before, and now the ladies want to follow in their footsteps.
The games are played with six players on court at a time. Arona finished second in their 18-game league schedule, and came through an elimination group to set up their possible promotion.
They are one of four teams now competing for two Superleague places.
