Summer University’s now much bigger and brighter

ADEJE’S Education and Sport Councillor Adolfo Alonso, alongside University of La Laguna vice-rector Francisco García and a number of course leaders, have outlined details of this month’s Adeje Summer University.

It is being held at the Cultural Centre, between 23rd-27July, and is celebrating its 26th consecutive year.

Adeje, now the university campus in South Tenerife, is also running a full tourism-degree course.

Francisco García said the programme had changed three years ago to become more flexible and modular, adapting to the changing profile of summer students.

Many of them are not simply looking for extra credits but are, for instance, professionals, interested in on-going training and education. The latter group, he added, were growing in number by the year.

The full list of courses and workshops, all of which are in Spanish this year, are available online, and you can also register online.

The programme offers 14 courses, run over three days, and 15 one-day workshops with a range of parallel, complementary activities, book presentations, and a different musical event in the Calle Grande every night, in addition to much more of interest to the public in general.

During the week, various radio stations will be presenting programmes live from the summer campus.

Courses include sign language, communication strategies, globalisation and online business, sports journalism and climate change, as well as subaquatic medicine.

The presentation was held in the CajaCanarias Fundación HQ, given their role as one of the main sponsors of the annual summer school.
