Snow is falling, all around me, children playing having fun

From 20-28 December an estimated three million travellers will pass through BAA airports. British Airways will be carrying more than a million travellers during the next fortnight. Britain is preparing for the busiest weekend of the Christmas escape as hundreds of thousands travel abroad. More than half a million will travel through the BAA’s seven airports, with 210,000 going out of London Heathrow and 100,000 departing from Gatwick.
Thousands of us escape the UK for sunnier climes, and those remaining in the UK hoping for a white Christmas are likely to be disappointed, says BBC weather centre. In the UK Christmas Eve will be colder, with some fog, brightening in the afternoon. Christmas Day will also be 7-8C, with a foggy start and then some bright spells in places.
Bookmaker William Hill is still taking bets however for a white Christmas. To be an official white Christmas a flake of snow must be observed to fall at specific sites in the UK between midnight on Christmas Eve and Midnight on Christmas Day.
In addition William Hill are taking bets on the top Christmas Day TV Programme, the programme with the highest BARB viewing figures; current favourite is Eastenders, followed a close second by Doctor Who – The Christmas Invasion.
Tenerife has its very own white Christmas. Due to recent weather conditions and high altitude Mount Teide has received its first fall of snow for this winter.

Mount Teide, Tenerife’s trademark volcano, peaked as Spain’s most visited national park last year. A total of 3,540,195 sightseers headed for the country’s only protected area with a certificate of environmental quality, offering guided tours. Staff at Teide’s visitor centres attended to 303,422 people and nearly 6,900 users took advantage of the guide service.
