Riddle of a nephew and his aunt’s violent death

POLICE believe that the nephew of a woman found dead at her home, could have been involved in the tragedy.

The aunt’s body, found by officers last Monday at her second-floor home in Santa Cruz, showed signs of being beaten to death in a frenzied attack, and investigators are sure it is another case of domestic abuse.

The nephew, who was present when the police arrived, was escorted to hospital by the cops, before being locked up at the local National Police station.

Police, alerted by neighbours, had visited the home and found the lifeless body. The area was then swamped with special forces and forensic officers throughout the day

The nephew, a 55-year-old from Venezuela, turned up at the home of his long-lost Spanish aunt, after searching several months for her, and was welcomed.

But neighbours were aware of the woman’s poor health, and noticed that her condition had worsened rapidly, since his arrival.

The nephew walked with a crutch because of a disability, and they became aware that the pair’s relationship had become strained over time.

Officers investigating how the tragedy happened, have decreed secrecy throughout the proceedings.
