Restaurants’ starring role

AFTER weeks of speculation, the complete list of restaurants awarded Michelin stars in Spain has been announced, including a handful in Tenerife.

The “three-star club” has two new members:  ABaC in Barcelona and Aponiente in Cadiz, Andalucia, bringing the exclusive band up to just 11 members.

There are four new restaurants with two Michelin stars: Cabaña Buenavista, Disfrutar, Dos Cielos and Maralba, while the 17 new establishments with one star include the simply-named Audrey’s Restaurant, in Calpe.

As for Tenerife, two stars were awarded to M.B. (The Ritz-Carlton, Abama),  Guía de Isora, while those granted one star were Restaurante NUB, La Laguna (for the first time); Kabuki, Guía de Isora; Kazan, Santa Cruz, and El Rincón de Juan Carlos, Los Gigantes.

The awards for Spain and Portugal were announced during last week’s gala dinner at the Ritz-Carlton, Abama.
