Restaurant man takes beating for his takings

A MAN aged 58 was struck in the face with a metal pole in Adeje last Friday night, and robbed of €10,000.

The incident happened at around 11pm, near the El  Galleon, on Avenida de los Pueblos, around the Terrazas area.

The restaurant manager was obviously attacked for the money he carried. He was responsible for taking it home, discreetly, so that he could bank it the following week,

According to sources, the victim had all the takings from the business, which had accumulated over the last few days.

He suffered a violent attack, leaving him in a critical condition after he was hit around the head, continually, with a blunt object.

To date, the victim, is still recovering in Hospiten Sur’s intensive care unit, after receiving dangerous injuries, resulting in an open head-wound above aneye, for which  he received more than 10 stitches.

He also had other significant blows to his head, causing a considerable loss of blood.

The man has managed the restaurant for many years, and his assailant it is thought to have been watching his movements for some time, collecting information.

A person in the area raised the alarm by calling the emergency services, just minutes after the attack occurred.

Guardia Civil officers, along with those from the Las Americas National Police, have been investigating thoroughly, and are looking for the attacker, who has in his possession around €10,000.

Officers, who are asking for witnesses to come forward, are also recovering the video surveillance of the area, where the violence took place.
