Rapist Worboys learns Spanish, but to no avail

JOHN Worboys, the taxi-driver rapist now known as John Derek Radford, had been learning Spanish as part of his plan for a new life on the country’s costas.

The 62-year-old had hoped to be released, eventually, to start a new life in Spain. Now, though, it appears that the serial rapist will spend the rest of his life behind bars at Wakefield jail, after a huge, public uproar at his pending release.

A source at the prison told the Daily Star newspaper: “He had all the books and DVDs and was becoming pretty fluent.

“He wanted to live in Spain where, worryingly, he’d be totally anonymous, and God only knows what he’d have got up to, mixing with tourists.

“He also changed his name, so he could slip under the radar, but it has all been for nothing. You don’t need much Spanish in Wakefield nick!”

Worboys could possibly have obtained permission from probation officers to travel abroad, after a parole board deemed him no longer dangerous.

But the decision is expected to be reversed when he appears before a judge in September for sentencing, after admitting to sex attacks on four more women.
