Police training pays dividends

ARONA Local Police have detected more than 150 fake and falsified car documents, and many identity thefts, in the past three years.

Since their training began in 2013, they have also recovered vehicles, which were stolen in several European countries.

Officers have had forensic-document training to detect these types of crime, which is seen as essential in a municipality with residents from over 100 different countries.

It’s a complicated procedure because the documentation is different for individual country’s vehicles and drivers.

But Arona cops have been trained specifically to identify fake passports, visas, driving licences, ID cards and vehicle documentation.
