Do take the plunge and Swim For Life

DIP your toes in, or make a full splash. Either way, you will be most welcome at La Caleta’s Tenerife Top Training centre, at its Swim For Life event next Saturday (16th Sept).

The well-established Walk For Life doesn’t happen until 17th December, but its pool-based partner will be giving the cause a head start to raise funds for breast cancer research..

A 10 euro donation includes use of the pools at the centre, which has attracted the cream of international swimmers, along with professionals from many other sports.

There will also be a commemorative pink swimming cap for each swimmer, plus water and fruit during the activities, a paella from Chef Mario and a prize raffle.

It’s all about fun rather than competitive challenges, and there’s a relay swim to start things off at 10.30am, followed by an aqua gym an hour later in the main pool, aiming to beat last year’s record for participants.

Then at 12.30pm, there is an “assisted” relay swim, featuring flippers and supports for the less-experienced swimmers. The smaller pool will be set aside for water games and less-challenging tasks.

You must be at least 14 years old to enjoy the fun in the pools, and if you are alone or with a small group, they will soon team you up with new friends, so you can enjoy this special day.

To make your donation, go to Bank Account Caja Siete, quoting IBAN ES30 3076 0120 1523 6038 5013. Please mention your full name and ID – NIE or passport number.
