Pirate fever hits Arona Carnival

GET an eye patch, maybe a stuffed parrot, and some pieces of nine (that’s allowing for inflation) because the 2018 Arona Carnival committee has chosen The Pirate as its theme.

The colourful event will take place from 1st-12th March, with Los Cristianos the main port of call.

This year’s Las Vegas theme fired plenty of imaginations, but Arona Council has shuffled the pack and are expecting a wild old time with salty sea-dogs and sea shanties  late into the nights.

Saturday, 3rd March, will be the launch parade from Veronicas in Playa de Las Americas. Sunday, 11th March, is the big Coso parade through Los Cristianos, and Monday, 12th, will see the giant sardine carried to the beach to perish in the flames.

In between, there will be music, dance, fancy-dress, and plenty of mayhem. The official poster has been created by Luis Marrero, his third year, and was unveiled earlier in the week.
