New petanque champions show spirit in abundance
LOS Hermanos Pentanque Club’s annual championship, on the seafront near the Oasis Moreque in Los Cristianos, attracted an excellent entry of 84 members.
They played in teams of three across the 14 pitches and spent five hours battling out before the winners were decided. after a final watched by a large, enthusiastic crowd.
Each side played three matches, with the highest-scoring two teams contesting the final showdown.
In the end, it came down to Sara, John and Helmet, who were beaten by Renate, Hans and Manne in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd.
The triumphant trio collected their championship trophy, and a bottle of spirits each, to complete an entertaining afternoon for players and spectators alike.
