Miguel Angel Santos leaves PSOE

Miguel Angel Santos, CEO Tenerife Tourism, has announced that he has left the political party – PSOE in order to maintain a position of “independence” as the head of the island’s tourism industry.

The Spanish press report that he tendered his resignation from the PSOE in a letter to the secretary general of the political party in Adeje last Friday. It is reported that Santos says he has taken this decision after a “long and thoughtful process of reflection” of professional questions as to “maintain” a position of “total independence” in which “fairness and objectivity” should be the governing principles.

Santos said in the letter that it is a decision which is “strictly personal” and that he has “great affection” to the municipality of Adeje and the PSOE, which has always been “the best” in 25 years.

Santos heads ‘Tenerife Tourism’ which aims to promote and enhance the island as a tourist destination. It links government and the private sector, creating a strong network allowing the development and strengthening of tourism planning strategies.
