Meet Sugar!

K9 animal news

SUGAR was found up north in Garachico, and was brought to us at the refuge a few days later.

She is a lovely, small-to-medium-sized animal, about 18 months old, and is very friendly with humans and other dogs. We suspect she has spent a large amount of her life on the streets, yet she is still enthusiastic about everything, and very cheerful.

When she arrived, she had an old fracture of her back leg, which left her thigh muscle too short to use. It was clear that the amputation of this leg would increase her quality of life, as it was only getting in the way when she walked and went to the toilet. She has now had this done, so it’s vital  that she walks as much as possible, in order to build up the muscles of the remaining back leg, and to get used to walking on three legs.

The refuge is not the ideal place for her to recover. Ideally, she needs a warm and loving home where she can recover properly, and get used to her new life. If you would like to offer lovely Sugar a home, please contact us at the refuge, or come and meet her!

Many thanks

We would like to say a massive thank you to Aqua Club Thermal Spa, who held a fundraising campaign for us in June, raising a whopping 339 euros!

Car-boot sales

The K9 car-boot sales are now cancelled until September.

Meet our dogs

We have many dogs, in all shapes and sizes, waiting patiently for their loving, safe-and-secure, forever homes. You can see them all, their stories and pictures, on our website at www.k9tenerife.com Go to “K9 dogs/Dogs waiting for homes”.

Why not visit us at K9 Refuge on Calle Chimbesque between Las Chafiras and Las Zocas any day of the week between 10-2pm? Alternatively, you can get in touch by telephoning us on 667 638 468, or emailing info@k9tenerife.com

You will also find stories of our dogs, their antics and heart-warming rehomings on Facebook by following Diary of a K9 Tenerife Dogwalker, K9 Tenerife and, not forgetting, K9 Tenerife Cats.

Also, to see daily photos of the walks that take place at K9, like the facebook page Voluntarios del Refugio K9.

Ways you can help

If you wish to support K9 animal refuge, and contribute towards the safe rescue and adoption of abandoned dogs and cats, we would be very appreciative.

You can buy our merchandise (T-shirts, vests, key rings, wristbands and more) at K9, sponsor one of our dogs via our website, and donate money via our website, or cash at our refuge. We also welcome donations of food and other items.
