Arona Carnival - 25.02.2010
The date for the Arona (Los Cristianos) Carnival has at last been released. The festivities will commence on Friday 5th March with the initial presentation of the candidates vying for the title of Carnival Queen. The pageant will take place outside of the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre at 8pm.

Not to be upstaged Wednesday 10th sees the Senior Citizens of the community holding their annual fancy dress ball with a performance by ‘Trio Acorde,’ taking place from 6.30pm all of the activity takes place in the exhibition area at the Valdés Center.
The following day Thursday 11th, at 8.30pm the Youth Carnival Queen candidates hold their show, once again in the exhibition area, beginning at 8.30pm.
A week from the pageant and the Carnival Queen is elected at 9pm on Friday 12th March who will then begin her duties presiding over the event.
On Saturday, 13th at 16:30 h there are a number of themed workshops taking place in the Los Cristianos Cultural Centre, including masks and make up events.
19:00 h: Carnival passacaglia (from Los Cristianos cultural center to Playa de Los Cristianos).
The great Carnival Ball with brilliant sounds from ‘Sensación Gomera’ a live music performance not to be missed, all the excitement begins at 11pm with dancing into the early hours of the morning.
The end of the carnival is on Sunday, 14th at (approximately) 5pm the Great Carnival Parade with a wealth of local groups' performances starts at Paloma Beach apartments, opposite Iceland, and slowly winds its way throughout Avenida Juan Carlos I until it reaches the outdoor exhibition area at the Valdés center. The culmination of the festivities is on the same day at 11pm, live performance by the ‘Wamampy Orchestra’ – then costumes are put into storage for another year.
