The President meets with Gordon Brown - 25.02.2010
The Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, met in London with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who has dealt with economic issues, matters relating to the Spanish Presidency of the EU and international policy issues.

Both leaders feel it is necessary to continue working together to improve economic relations between the two countries and help their economies out of recession, as highlighted in a press conference.

They also believe that both the British and Spanish companies must commit more to jobs and provide better training to their employees.

In this regard, the British prime minister has announced the conclusion of a summit between Spain and the UK on employment to determine how to open the labour market for young and British and Spanish entrepreneurs to gain access to new productive sectors.

Gordon Brown considers that it is time to cut public spending, and public investment because it would lead to a situation of greater recession.

"The year 2010 has become the year is growth in the economies should move forward. It is time to recovery," he said.

José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and Gordon Brown have also discussed how to advance the climate change negotiations and talked about safety.

The President qualified as "excellent" relations between Spain and Britain, and has valued the "critical support" of British Prime Minister to the Spanish presidency of the European Union.
