
That is the amount that Tourism of Tenerife has obtained of public funding for works in relation to the improvement of the tourist destinations.
The investment has been put together through subsidies by various town councils, as well as access to both Cabildo and Government aid. El Convenio de Regeneración del Espacio Turístico - The Convention Regeneration Tourist Resorts, managed by Tourism of Tenerife and signed by the Cabildo, municipalities of Arona, Adeje, Puerto de la Cruz and Santiago Teide, and the employers Ashotel, has achieved since its signing, in January 2007, a total of 11,364,996 euros of public funding. Of this amount, the Cabildo brings 4,219,783 euros, and the Government of the Canary Islands, 4,839,031. The rest, 2,326,182 euros, comes from the coffers of municipalities seconded to the convention. The first vice president Cabildo and responsible for the Tourism of Tenerife, Jose Manuel Bermúdez, explains that this agreement, whose objective is to promote improvements in the spaces of touristic areas of the island, both public and private, for the regeneration of destination, is an initiative "pioneering, but also necessary, to achieve the necessary resources to undertake the action required". On financing obtained from the Government of the Canary Islands, 1.99 million was approved at the end of last year. This contributed to the resurfacing of the road of San Eugenio and Torviscas Alto, in Adeje; the rehabilitation and improvement of the pathways in avenue Rafael Puig in Arona. Similarly, the agreement reached at the beginning of current period and also the regional government subsidies for the rehabilitation of tourist areas by a value of 2.8 million euros, aimed at the regeneration of the ‘avenida del V Centenario’, in Adeje; work on the promenade of Los Cristianos, in Arona and the urbanization of the plaza in Los Cristianos. |
