Leslie’s burning love for Tenerife!

HERE at Keddy’s Entertainment, we often go out and about, experiencing new acts who are resident on the island.

They have achieved their dreams of living in the sun, entertaining the thousands of tourists who visit this beautiful and vibrant island, year after year. The following artiste is no different, and a tribute to The King himself, the legendary Elvis Presley.

Leslie Moore, aka Leslie Elvis Moore, has now been established as one of the most popular and followed acts on the Tenerife circuit, having been nominated in the top four tribute acts, at the 2018 Tenerife Entertainment Awards.

His drive and energy is second to none. By his own admission, he bills himself as an entertainer, rather than a singer. Leslie never fails to bring smiles and laughter to every single face in his audience, with his fabulous singing and  superb, comedy timing.

Even working seven days a week, Leslie never fails to step up to the plate to help others, assisting at charity events, and fundraising. Leslie was so upset by the collapse of a building in Los Cristianos some time ago, he set off to help, and raised a staggering 2610 euros to help the families left with nothing.

Leslie started his working career at the age of 15, delivering coal in his local town of Bolton. Sadly, after 25 years, it was time to move on, and he was a removals man for the next 10 years.

At the age of 43, Leslie made the decision to map out a new path to follow. This took him to Majorca, and a venture into entertaining people. It wasn’t easy for him, and was a real struggle. But he was not to be beaten, and wouldn’t go back to working within the removals industry. Leslie was successful in achieving a part in the Inbetweeners film. Not bad for a coalman from Bolton!

At the age of 43, he headed to Tenerife to visit his brother on holiday, for his birthday. Little did he know this was to become his permanent home, and a place where he would fulfil his lifetime ambition of becoming an all-round entertainer.

So, six months later, and with their bags packed, Leslie and his partner Joy moved to their new home to start a new life. With his phone number scribbled on a scrap of paper, an Elvis suit, and a few Elvis songs,  he decided to give it one last go!

After two weeks with no work, he finally got his first gig. Word soon spread that there was a new Elvis in town. This came just in time, as contingency funds were running very dry, and dwindling quickly.

He explains how he met an amazing couple called Shaun and Karen King, who kindly offered to make him an Elvis jump-suit. They played a major part in making his dreams come true, and he most definitely would not be here today, if it were not for their support.

Leslie would like to thank many people, in particular Shaun, who is a professional singer and works at Amanda’s bar in Torviscas. He goes on to say that he is one of the nicest, kindest people he has ever come across, really helping Leslie to start his career in Tenerife.

It took Leslie over three years to become firmly established on the island, and, after seven years of performing daily, one of his highlights was being nominated at the TEAs 2018 for the Best Tribute Act. It really did go on to make his year.

He felt a strong sense of achievement, and would like to thank all the lovely people out there who voted for him. It was very much appreciated.

Over the years, he has built up a fan base of genuinely-lovely people. In fact, quite a few have become more like family to him!

After leaving Bolton 13 years ago, Leslie has never looked back. He remembers friends and associates laughing at the fact that he was going to actually pack up and attempt to work abroad.

That feeling of hurt spurred Leslie on, and he has definitely gone on to prove the sceptics wrong! Those sounds of laughter have fizzled out, and been replaced by applause. Leslie told us here at Keddy’s Entertainment headquarters that he is blessed to be able to live on a beautiful island, own a property, and be surrounded by wonderful friends. He has never been happier. He just wishes, in his heart, that his parents were here today to see his success, and all he’s achieved.

He would like to say a big thank-you to Tenerife and all his beautiful friends, for helping him to fulfil his dreams. If he could offer any advice to anyone thinking about taking that leap of faith, then it would be “don’t let anything in this world ever hold you back from following your dreams”.

So, why not take a leaf out of Leslie’s book and follow your dreams, and join us out here living those dreams? We are often on the lookout for new and upcoming talent, from acts to hotel animation staff.

If you think you have what it takes to live in the sun and work hard, turning your dream into a reality, e-mail us at info@keddysentertainment.com

But, for now, it looks like Elvis is not only in the building, but here to stay, in Tenerife.
