Karting? Even toddlers are given a mini-chance

Travel 2THE local Karting track, the large one between Los Cristianos and the airport, is always a major sight, and, I would guess, a huge talking point for new arrivals on the transfer buses from their planes.

The track is a well-known landmark because of its size, and it definitely stands out! And there is an array of activities in which to participate once you’re there.

The Karting Club, for a start, offers a free pick-up and drop-off from the South resorts, which is always a bonus, and staff always try to find a convenient time and pick-up point to suit.

On arrival, hand over your pre-paid tickets, or, alternatively, you can make your own way there. There is plenty of free car-parking, and you may purchase entrance tickets on the door.

The track is ideal for all ages, with vehicles to suit everyone – even the toddlers. Yes, those aged 3-5 can even sit alongside an adult and race on a purpose-built mini-track. To see the joy and excitement on the kids’ faces is a real treat.

For the 6-9 age group, they have an opportunity to manoeuvre their very own 120cc vehicle around the junior track.

Next step is for ages 10-14, who drive a slightly larger kart, namely a 180cc. The concentration levels on their faces is sooooo cute! You can sense their imagination of actually being a participant in a huge Formula 1 race!

The teenagers, 15-17, can join the senior track, on a kart named the 200cc “Cadete Senior”, and the 18-year-olds and over (no upper-age limit, I might add) are offered the brand new Kart RT8.

With a 400cc, 14 horsepower 4-stroke engine, vast speeds can be reached while winding in and out, and around and around, the race track.

Why not make an event out of your day at the track? Whether team-building, a company bash, stag (or hen) parties or celebrating your birthday, you can book your own group Grand Prix!

Mini Prix, Grand Prix or Super Grand Prix … there are different packages, all including 10 laps minimum. Dependent on the package, you could even be receiving your very own trophy and a bottle of bubbly to spray, as well as winners’ diplomas.

Lunch can also be served, if required, and all can be viewed from the panoramic terrace. And  you can see your times displayed on the large, flashing board.

There is a minimum number of people required for these organised events, though, so please contact the numbers of addresses below for further information.

For the 18s and under,, why not let the Karting Club host a memorable birthday party for you, in which you will have your own priority section to celebrate with your friends.
