Hiker takes wrong path!

A GERMAN hiker was rescued by an emergency helicopter after falling into a barranca in a difficult area of Guimar.

The 48-year-old German was on a hiking expedition in a place known as “the path of windows”.

After a call had been made to the emergency services, a team of fire-fighters set out to find him. Once they had located him,

a helicopter arrived at the scene swiftly, and one of the crew was lowered to reach the victim, because of the area’s precarious nature,

The injured man was assessed and given first-aid, and, once stabilised, he was then winched on to the helicopter and transferred to the North airport.

When the party arrived at Los Rodeos, an ambulance was waiting, and the victim was diagnosed with head injuries, as well as internal bruising. He was taken to Candelaria Hospital for observation.
