Guardia nabs Jihadi fighter

A JIHADI terrorist was arrested by the Guardia Civil last week in the mountain village of Benahavis, near Marbella.

Ahmed Samsam, who had been in the Costa del Sol area for a fortnight, had been attempting get hold of weapons and bullet-proof vests in Spain, via the internet.

The 29-year-old, remanded in custody by a Madrid Court, was understood to have been planning an attack, in conjunction with terrorist group ISIS.

But officers are still trying to discover whether he had been involved in any plots on the Costa del Sol, despite counter-terrorism units trailing him closely since his arrival.

The “dangerous” Danish national had left his country recently to fight for ISIS in Syria, and his case is now subject to a secrecy order.

The Guardia’s investigations led officers to the Benahavis hotel, but Samsam’s plans in Spain are still unclear.

Investigators say he was trained by ISIS in Syria, according to his activity on social media, and that he had engaged in recruitment and spreading propaganda.

But they are digging deeper to determine whether he was part of a wider network in Spain.
