Family Church is jewel of the South

Comm 4TENERIFE Family Church has a heart for the South of the Island and works tirelessly for the community.

Whether it be helping people who are hungry homeless or suffering addictions, or those just in need of an ear to listen to them, the message from members is simple: “We are here.”

They support the ‘SHE’ ministry, which helps women suffering abuse, depression and loneliness. When these unfortunate people feel despair, church members are just a phone call away, to help. with every situation.

They visit the sick in hospital, most of who are tourists, offering them a chat to help with their unexpected experience.

The Church also supports The Living Room, a drop-in centre for workers in the Veronicas area of Las Americas. Many young people who come to Tenerife to work find it a different place than they thought, with many temptations.

The team offer them an alternative, with chat, games, chill-out time, internet time and soft drinks. And it’s open from 4-7pm, four afternoons a week.

The same team also go out on the streets three nights a week to talk with young workers, and tell them about the centre.

There is also a dedicated team who visit the homeless camps every week and offer food, friendship, encouragement and help to those who in need.

But all this work needs funding, and Pippa, the group’s resident, professional beautician, is giving her time to help.

She will be at the Tenerife Family Church on Monday (29th) and Tuesday (30th), from 9.30am, to offer manicures and massages for a minimum five-euro donation to the church . But please be generous, if possible.

Please let Kate know on 606 572 469 when you would like to have your treatment, and you will be booked in.

Church members are doing a 10km sponsored walk on Saturday, 11th October, along the area known as Geranium Walk, starting at 9am.

It is from La Caleta to Los Cristianos along the beach-front, taking in La Caleta, Del Duque, Puerto Colon, San Eugenio, Las Americas and, finally, Los Cristianos.
