Driver didn’t give a hoot about shooting

THE National Police have detained a 35-year-old Lanzarote man, at his Arricife home, charging him with threatening behaviour.

He had no previous police record, but had a gun in his possession and fired it, in an attempt to get a driver to stop tooting his car horn excessively.

A neighbour heard the shots, and, after a quick look, realised what was going on. He then called the National Police and told them a street fight was taking place, involving guns.

They arrived almost immediately, and began door-to-door inquiries with the neighbours, in search of individuals who witnessed the shots being fired.

Various neighbours told the officers they had seen a neighbour threatening a driver inside the car, which resulted in an abusive argument, and then the shots.

The initial reason for the argument was the continual use of the car horn by a driver, who was tooting, to let a pal know he was waiting for him outside the apartment in which he lived.

The police eventually located the man, who handed over the gun, rapidly, along with 10 cartridges.

He was charged, and, along together with the police report, will face a court judge.
