You definitely can’t rent these hire cars

SPANISH police have arrested two people, accused of selling stolen rental cars, while Guardia Civil officers are investigating another eight people on suspicion of fraud, document misrepresentation, misappropriation, and organised crime.

The moves came after 10 cars, believed stolen in Germany, were to have been sold in Madrid and Leon.

Under “Operation Palca”, officers began an investigation after inspecting a second-hand-car dealership in Alcala de Henares, Madrid, where they found one car, which had been reported stolen in Germany.

Guardia Civil agents later claimed they had discovered a link between the vehicle and a group of Romanians, living in Arganda del Rey, Madrid, who had, allegedly, registered and sold 10 cars in Spain in a short time.

Police said the cars, worth a total of €259,410, had been stolen from Friesland, Germany.
