Anxious hunt for goals

AN all-out-attack mode must be the order of the day as CD Tenerife B strive to overcome a 2-0 defeat at SD Ejea in Zaragoza last Sunday.

The second leg of the penultimate promotion round, to reach the Segunda B, takes place on Sunday at noon, at the Javier Perez training complex, near Tenerife North airport.

This away leg was a story of missed early chances, followed by defensive errors. After 11 minutes, a Tenerife corner floundered outside the box and was intercepted by an Ejea player, whose long ball found a willing and accurate crosser out on the right.

His ball across the goalmouth found Garde free, who scored with ease at the far post. There was another blow a few minutes later when key Tenerife defender Bolaños went off injured.

Tenerife regained their composure, but they were undone again in the 66th minute when they lost the ball on the halfway line. Ramon unlocked the defence and slipped the ball past unsure keeper Angel Galvan to make it 2-0.

All is not lost, but it will take a big effort by Tenerife Under-23s, and lots of character, to claw back the two-legged affair on home soil.

The club have hired a temporary, 1,000-seater stand to double the crowd capacity at their training ground.
