It’s anchors away!

Local 21TWO anchors, from the 16th and 17th century, sold illegally on the internet, were impounded by Lanzarote’s Cabildo and Guardia Civil.

An inspector from the Cabildo’s Lanzarote Heritage Service discovered the sale and told the Guardia Civil, which located the artifacts and the seller, who had no proof of ownership.

He was accused of serious violation of the Canary Islands Historical Heritage Law, and the anchors were presented to the Archaeological Fund of the Lanzarote Institution.

The Historical Heritage can impose various fines, up to 600,000 euros, on people damaging historical and/or archaeological objects. In this case, the fine ranges between 3,001 and 150,000 euros.
