We’re still ambitious!

TIGHTENING up in defence is top of the agenda for Egatesa Granadilla Tenerife, who have now conceded seven goals in the last two games.

And keeper Pili Gonzalez and her defence will be striving for a clean sheet at home against Madrid CFF on Sunday, kick-off noon, in San Isidro.

The goal rushes came against the top two teams, Atletico Madrid, who beat them 4-0 in San Isidro, and a 3-1 defeat at Barcelona.

Madrid CFF are in seventh place and shouldn’t pose such an attacking threat. But Granadilla, who will be taking nothing for granted, are willing to work hard to ensure they finish strongly in their last five, regular league games.

They sit in fourth spot, and must finish in the top eight to qualify for the end-of-season Copa del Reina (Queen’s Cup).

There could be an even bigger reward if they make the draw for the home and away quarter-finals, because the cup competition would end with the two semis and the final over the weekend of 19th and 20th May.

And San Isidro is in contention to host this showpiece finale, which features live coverage on Spanish national television.
