Troya Beach closed as boat with 30 immigrants comes ashore

Adeje council have closed Playa Troya due to a patera (small wooden boat) with 30 people onboard arriving on the shore.

At around 7:10 this morning the boat was detected just off the coast and it managed to reach the shore without any assistance, the boat was met by the health services, red cross and police. Aboard were 30 men in good health from Western Africa, the boat is thought to have departed from Western Sahara and early reports show there were several nationalities onboard from Mali, Senegal and Guinea.

 The emergency services also initiated the Covid-19 protocols and will transfer the men to local medical facilities, the beach will remain closed until the boat has been removed and the beach and surrounding areas cleaned and disinfected, according to Covid-19 measures.
