This morning the IES Los Olivos secondary school in Adeje was an official centre for the EBAU, the official pre-university exams, with about 500 students from South Tenerife taking part.  The different parts of the exams stretch over today, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 8.30am every day.

As a result of the pandemic, the University of La Laguna – the ULL – took the decision to create three centres for the island (previously all exams took place in the University itself), Adeje for students from the south, Anchieta for the north of Tenerife and Guajara for the metropolitan zone.

For María Clavijo Maza, the Adeje Education Councillor, this “is an important moment for students from the south of Tenerife, who can these exams in safe surroundings, with IES Adeje prepared to receive them, and we hope that we can consolidate Adeje as a permanent centre in the south for this exam”.

The centres are also hosting, as is usual every year, aspiring university students from Las Palmas, El Hierro and La Gomera, all part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

In all of the exam centres, they are following the protocols as established by the Ministry of Health to guarantee the safety and health of all the students. Overall there are up to 5,000 sitting the exams, with a second round of tests scheduled for  September.
