Six injured as car crashes into bar terrace in Tenerife
Last night, at approximately 10.15pm, a car crashed into the terraces of a bar on Avenida Francisco La Roche, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, after leaving the port tunnel and the driver lost control of it, who tested positive for a breathalyzer test.
According to emergency services, six people were injured, the driver was arrested, but his companion fled the scene.
Agents sealed off two terraces and cut off the road in both directions, and reported that the vehicle ran over "between 7 and 8 tables on the terrace of a bar" in the area.
SUC paramedics were dispatched to the scene to attend to the people that got hurt, who all had varying degrees of injuries. In total, six women aged 16 to 31, and two men aged 18 and 21 were injured, the men were treated on site, and the women all transferred to hospitals. Fortunately none were critical and just needed further treatment or routine observation.
A witness claims to have seen the police take away a handcuffed person, who turned out to be the driver, who tested positive for drink driving after failing a breathalyser, is accused of a crime against road safety.
