Man arrested at Lanzarote airport with more than a kilo of cocaine in his body
A 47-year-old man has been arrested when he tried to enter Lanzarote with more than a kilo of cocaine hidden inside his body, after landing on a flight from Brussels, as reported this morning (Friday) by the Guardia Civil.
Border Control agents at the island's airport discovered the drug hidden in the body of the man, after he aroused their suspicions and showed nervousness after they stopped and questioned him.
Due to this, they decided to take him to the hospital in Arrecife for an X-ray, which confirmed the presence of the illegal substance in his body. He was immediately admitted to the health centre under medical supervision and police surveillance, and ended up ‘expelling’ a total of 75 wrappers of cocaine that weighed, 1.25 kilograms.
After being arrested for drug trafficking he was placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction Number 3 of the Lanzarote capital, Arrecife, which has ordered his imprisonment.
