A large bundle of drugs found floating in the sea in Las Palmas
Agents of the Port Police in Las Palmas spotted a suspicious looking package floating just off the beach this morning, inside the Canary Islands Special Zone in Gran Canaria.
They could tell it contained drugs, so removed it from the water and called the Guardia Civil who dispatched officers from Puerto de La Luz to confirm what was inside and weigh it.
As initially suspected, the package contained Cannabis reagents, and weighed 36.4 kilograms. The Guardia Civil took over custody and started judicial proceedings into the origin of the package, which like the ones found in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura last weekend, is thought to also be from the haul that was thrown overboard by a patera of immigrants heading to the islands from Africa.
