Mayor Jos Alberto Gonzlez Reveron revealed that the local authority had been in successful talks with the Feo Gonzlez family and Guaza Motor company to obtain land for a new bypass.Agreement had been reached after several months and, in about a week, the plots would be put at the disposal of Tenerife Cabildo which had the powers to go ahead with the plans for the area between the roundabout close to the barranco and the urban boundary.Over 33 million euros has been allocated for the new road which will consist of four lanes plus a central walkway for pedestrians. Furthermore, the town hall has plans to develop the land alongside the road with educational, sports, cultural and health care installations being among the proposals for the area. The Mayor said the authorities considered that this project would finally resolve the problems caused by a daily build-up of vehicles, especially at peak hours.Thousands of drivers used Guaza for getting to work or returning home. Long queues were commonplace with vehicles heading for or from the TF-1 motorway and arriving from such population centres as Guargacho, El Fraile and Las Galletas.
