La Laguna explosion is being treated as attempted murder

The 51-year-old woman who was in critical condition at the Hospital Universitario de Canarias (HUC) after suffering serious burns from the explosion in La Laguna, has died today, although further investigations are being carried out as she claimed she was doused in petrol.

The incident took place early yesterday morning at 3.47am, in an apartment in the Princesa Yballa urbanization in La Cuesta after a claimed explosion in the apartment that caused two serious injuries, a 51-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found the Spanish couple had both been wounded, there was a strong smell of petrol in the flat, and the female victim was crying "He tried to kill me with gasoline."

They’ve been named as Ramona JSA and Abraham ZA, and Ramona was transferred in an ambulance to the Canary University Hospital, whose specialists worked hard to keep her alive, given the huge percentage of her body that was burned. Late last night she was taken by medical plane, to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville.

Unfortunately earlier today, Ramona in critical condition, passed away from the burns she sustained in the incident.

As reported today, the Ramona had made use of the resources to help women who are victims of gender violence before, but there is no evidence that it is in relation to problems with Abraham.
Of course, the residents of Princesa Yballa maintain that, on Tuesday afternoon before the incident happened that they heard an argument from the couple's apartment.

The Police are continuing their investigation into the tragic incident to find out exactly what happened, and to ascertain if it was an accident or attempted murder. Currently Abraham is at the Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, and in the custody of the National Police, to later be transferred to Burns Hospital in Seville aswell.
